Dimensions with the click of a button

Select one or more shapes and click the side you want: top, bottom, left, right or centre. Dimension measures each shape and draws the line, end points and label. Angle dimensions are there too, inside or outside the corner.

Turn any straight line into a dimension

Draw a line with Illustrator's smart guides snapping to your artwork, then convert it to a dimension line. It's a fast way to dimension anything, and you can adjust the label or add your own text as you go.

Real-world sizes at any scale

Set the drawing scale as a percentage or a ratio like 1:20, and choose metric, imperial or print units with the number of decimal places you want. Don't know the scale of a photo or plan? Mark two points, type in the real distance, and Dimension works the scale out for you.

Make them look the way you want

Choose the end points (arrows, circles, diamonds, slashes or none) and their size, the line colour and width, dashed lines copied from your artwork, the font, and a keyline behind the label so it reads on busy backgrounds. Scale the whole look up or down in one go to suit the size of your artwork. The lines can use a spot colour of their own.

Tidy and safe on their own layer

All dimensions can go on a special Dimensions layer that locks and unlocks itself as you work, so they never get moved by accident and are easy to hide for print.

Why not just use Illustrator's own tools?
